brigade of territorial defense of RU "East"
The 108th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade was established on July 2, 2018.
On February 24, 2022, the unit was transitioned to wartime staffing. The majority of the brigade’s units were reinforced by volunteers (mainly from the Dnipropetrovsk region).
In April 2022, the brigade received a combat order to take up a defensive line in the Donetsk direction, near Velyka Novosilka (including the settlements of Burlatske, Shevchenkove, Myrne, Pryiutne, Neskuchne, and Vesele). Together with other units, the 108th Territorial Defense Brigade heroically held the designated defense line, thwarting the enemy’s plans to encircle Ukrainian forces in Donetsk.
From early November to December 13, 2022, the unit underwent recovery and reorganization.
After that, the brigade assumed and has reliably held a defensive line in the southern direction.
The brigade is distinguished by its use of innovative reconnaissance and strike tools.
The command actively supports and fosters an environment for creative individuals with inventive and organizational talent. Among the original innovations developed by the brigade’s personnel are:
On September 29, 2022, by decree of the President of Ukraine, the brigade was awarded a Battle Flag.
A large number of officers, sergeants, and enlisted personnel have been decorated with state honors and awards from the Ministry of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the General Staff.
The brigade’s shoulder patch features nine golden stars on a blue shield, symbolizing the nine historic Cossack Siches.
The “Iron Infantry” of the 108th Territorial Defense Brigade honors the traditions of their ancestors and enriches them with heroic actions in the fight against the Russian occupiers.
The brigade promotes love for the Motherland, devotion to the Ukrainian people, courage, and professionalism. One of its core principles is care and support for newcomers.
The brigade’s motto is: "Strength in Unity."
Shoulder Patch
The sleeve emblem (for parade, dress, and everyday uniforms) is shaped like a blue heraldic shield with a yellow border. The yellow crenellated top of the shield indicates the unit’s affiliation with the Territorial Defense Forces.
The central part of the emblem is a blue field dotted with nine golden eight-pointed stars, also present on the coat of arms of Dnipropetrovsk region. This symbolizes the brigade’s connection to the region and dedication to the traditions and knightly legacy of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
