The 11th Army Aviation Brigade "Kherson" traces its history back to the 320th Separate Helicopter Regiment, which took the Oath of Allegiance to Ukraine on January 12, 1992, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. In March 1994, the regiment was reorganized into the 2nd Army Aviation Brigade of the Odesa Military District. The official founding date of the unit is considered to be March 1, 1994. On October 14, 2019, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, awarded the brigade the honorary title "Kherson".
Key Battles (2014–2021): Brigade pilots carried out a wide range of combat missions, including reconnaissance, troop transport to combat zones, enemy sabotage operations, and medical evacuations to hospitals. (2022–2025): From the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the brigade has played an active role in major combat operations, including the defense of Kyiv, battles in Irpin, and on the southern front, where they stopped enemy convoys and provided critical air support.
Awards and Honors State Awards: Over 50 military aviators from the brigade have been decorated with state honors for their service and heroismduring ATO/JFO operations. Departmental Awards: Throughout its history, the brigade’s personnel have received nearly 360 state awards and over 1,230 departmental decorations for their commitment and bravery.
