Historical Background: The regiment traces its origins to the city of Zolotonosha, Cherkasy region, where it began as the 717th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division of the 1261st Artillery Regiment within the 18th Guards Mechanized Korsun-Danube Order of Suvorov Division of the 20th Rifle Corps, Kyiv Military District.
July 20, 1950: The unit was reorganized as the 2502nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment of light anti-aircraft artillery and transitioned to a peacetime structure. December 11, 1991: The regiment was awarded the Passing Red Banner of the Military Council of the Kyiv Military District for excellence in combat training.
August 7, 2013: The battle flag of the regiment was transferred for preservation to the National Military History Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Current Role: The 1121st Regiment serves exclusively as a training unit and does not participate directly in combat operations. Its primary mission is to train specialists for the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ensuring personnel are proficient in operating anti-aircraft missile systems and ready for deployment in active units.
