

Formation in the Operational Command "East"
In January 1992, the personnel of military took an oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people.
As of June 23, 2006, the formation was known as the 121st Separate Guards Line-Nodal Fokshano-Mukden Red Banner, Order of Alexander Nevsky and the Order of the Red Star Communications Regiment.
On November 18, 2015, the formation became the 121st Separate Guards Fokshano-Mukden Communications Brigade, and as part of the overall military reform, Soviet-era awards and names were removed, leading to the new designation 121st Separate Guards Communications Brigade.
On August 22, 2016, as part of the general military reform, the "Guards" designation was officially removed from the unit's name.
Participation in Combat The regiment participated in the War in Donbas, notably in the battles near Sloviansk, Krasnohorivka, Vodiane, and Pisky. On August 29, 2014, during the retreat from the Ilovaisk encirclement near Novokaterynivka, the regiment’s commander, Borys Kyforenko, and three other servicemen were killed.
