Military formation of artillery troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
209th Separate Anti-Tank Artillery Division is a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, part of the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Taras Triasylo. The division’s primary weapon is the MT-12 “Rapira” anti-tank gun, used for direct-fire destruction of enemy armored vehicles.
Formation History
The origin of the 209th Separate Anti-Tank Artillery Division is linked to the reform of artillery units in the Armed Forces of Ukraine following the start of russia’s aggression in 2014. The division was established to strengthen anti-tank defenses and provide effective support to mechanized and tank units on the battlefield. The division has its own distinctive symbols, including a shoulder patch that signifies its affiliation with the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade. This symbolism is an important element of military identity and underscores the unit’s fighting spirit.
Key Battles
During combat operations, the division's personnel demonstrated high effectiveness in destroying enemy armored vehicles. In particular, Junior Sergeant Andrii Holovnia, a section commander in the 209th Division, was awarded Ukraine’s highest state honor — the title Hero of Ukraine — for destroying 78 units of enemy equipment.
Honors and Awards
The exemplary service and battlefield successes of the division highlight its crucial role in Ukraine’s defense efforts. The award to Junior Sergeant Holovnia serves as a symbol of the unit’s bravery, skill, and unwavering determination.
