21st Separate Mechanized Brigade is a unit of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, established in 2022 in response to russia’s full-scale invasion.
Formation History
Since its formation, the brigade has taken part in key combat operations in eastern Ukraine. In 2023, its units were engaged in battles near the city of Kreminna, demonstrating strong combat effectiveness and resilience.
Key Battles
The brigade’s involvement in the Kreminna sector has been notable for its defensive and offensive operations, contributing significantly to Ukraine’s resistance in the region.
Honors and Awards
For courage and bravery on the battlefield, the 21st Separate Mechanized Brigade was awarded a battle flag, personally presented by the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In addition, the brigade’s servicemen received numerous honors, including certificates of recognition from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their service to the Ukrainian people.
Several soldiers were honored for personal heroism. For example, Sergeant Iia of the medical company received a commendation from Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi as the “Best Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” Also, the commander of the strike drone platoon, known by the call sign “Zaiets,” was recognized for his actions in targeting enemy armored vehicles.
