Mechanized unit of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a combat unit of the Ground Forces, reestablished following russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. The brigade plays a crucial role in Ukraine’s current defense structure, with experience in both offensive and defensive operations. The unit’s symbolism includes a black and gold sun, and its motto — “We pacify with a predator’s sword” — emphasizes determination and strength.
The 22nd Brigade’s combat path has led it through some of the most intense frontline zones. In 2023–2024, it was actively engaged in the Bakhmut direction, where Ukrainian forces conducted grueling battles against the occupiers. In June 2024, part of the brigade was redeployed to Ukraine’s northern border — in Sumy region — to help guard the state border, highlighting its flexibility and strategic importance.
A major milestone came during the Kursk operation in August 2024, when units of the brigade were among the first to cross into enemy territory, capturing around a hundred russian soldiers. This was not only a military achievement but also a powerful informational move in the struggle for battlefield initiative.
For their bravery and professionalism, servicemen of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade have repeatedly received state awards and honorary recognitions from local authorities.
