The 242nd combined military training ground, also known as the Gonchariv military training ground, is a training ground located in the north of Ukraine, in the Chernihiv region, near the village of Goncharivske, Chernihiv district.
The 242nd combined military training ground, also known as the Gonchariv military training ground, is a training ground located in the north of Ukraine, in the Chernihiv region, near the village of Goncharivske, Chernihiv district.
The training ground was created in 1953 together with the military town of Goncharivske by decision of the command of the Kyiv Military District near the village of Gonchariv krug. At that time, it was called the 7th Tank and Artillery Range. Reconnaissance of the exact location of the training ground, as well as the settlement, was personally carried out by the commander of the Kyiv Military District, Army General Vasyl Ivanovich Chuikov, who was the initiator of its creation.
During 2018, restoration and construction of a number of military infrastructure facilities at the training ground was carried out. At the training base of the shooting range, the area of the shooting range was restored and new training places were arranged: an objective control system (video cameras and a thermal imager) was installed to control the training, new lifts for targets were purchased, windows and doors were replaced in the premises and on the towers, internal repairs were carried out work, lighting was carried out with the installation of new floodlights.
