The Luhansk Border Guard Detachment was established on October 20, 1992. Until 2014, its primary task was to protect Ukraine's state border, which involved combating smuggling, terrorism, conducting reconnaissance in border areas, and ensuring the safety of the local population in these regions. At different times, the detachment was responsible for securing a border stretch between 640 to 746 kilometers. Аlso known as Pomsta Brigade.
Key Battles
- 2014–2021: Participation in combat actions in Eastern Ukraine, ensuring the safety of the population amid the ongoing war.
- 2022–2024: Defense along the Kramatorsk, Kupiansk, and Siversk directions, as well as in the Serebryanske Forestry area.
Awards
- On September 7, 2022, the detachment was awarded the honorary distinction "For Courage and Bravery" by the Decree of the President of Ukraine.
- Maxym Lozov, a soldier from the detachment, was awarded the "Gold Star" order, while two commanders received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
