38th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment named after Lieutenant General Yuriy Tiutiunnyk of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The military unit was established in August 2016 on the basis of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion of the 1039th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, which had been involved in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in the Donetsk and Luhanskregions from May 2014 to August 2016. The regiment played a critical role in defending Ukraine's state sovereignty and territorial integrity, serving as a reliable air defense shield as part of the Operational Tactical Group "Donetsk".
Key Dates September 10, 2016: The first order for the regiment was issued, marking the official formation of the unit. Involvement in the 2022 russian Invasion Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion in 2022, the regiment has been actively engaged in combat tasks to provide air defense for infantry and mechanized units against aerial attacks. In 2022, the regiment's units participated in the operations to liberate the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
Achievements Throughout the conflict, the regiment's units have successfully shot down over 630 aerial targets, including aircraft, missiles, and drones. On September 30, 2024, the regiment was awarded the honorary distinction "For Courage and Bravery" by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 672/2024.
Awards and Recognition The regiment's personnel have received awards, certificates, and gifts from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Odesa Regional Council, and other government bodies for their exceptional service.
