5th Separate Assault Kyiv Brigade

In the spring of 2022, after the beginning of the Russian invasion, the 5th separate assault regiment was created. The regiment participated in the battles for the Lysychansky oil refinery, Siversk, Vuglehirsk TPP and the battles for Mayorske. In October 2022, the regiment was involved in the Battle of Bakhmut, where it fought together with the Ukrainian Marine Corps and the National Guard forces. In 2023, the regiment joined the "Aidar" battalion, the regiment was reorganized into the 5th separate assault brigade. On February 24, 2023, the brigade was awarded a battle banner. On September 17, 2023, together with the 80th separate airborne assault brigade and the separate assault brigade of the NPU "Lyut", it liberated the village of Klishchiivka, which is located near Bakhmut. On September 29, 2023, the brigade received the honorary name "Kyivska".
