The training unit for training specialists for engineering units is part of the 169 training center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine according to its organizational and staffing structure.
The military unit was established between April 15 and 30, 1957, as the 381st Armored Repair Workshop of the 112th Guards Motorized Rifle Division. According to a directive from the commander of the Kyiv Military District dated March 18, 1964, the workshop was reorganized into the 507th Separate Repair and Recovery Battalion of the 48th Guards Tank Division. On December 15, 1972, the unit became the 507th Separate Training Repair and Recovery Battalion. After the training tank division was converted to the structure of the 169th Training Center for the preparation of junior tank specialists, the battalion was incorporated into the center. In 2003, an engineer-sapper company from the disbanded 257th Training Engineer-Sapper Battalion was transferred to its structure.
Tradition
The black color of the battalion's shoulder emblem shield indicates its historical affiliation with the repair units of the tank forces. At the center of the shield is a silver (white) gear with a red inner field, overlaid with crossed silver (white) hammer and wrench. In the background of the gear is a gold (yellow) recovery vehicle. The crossed tools, gear, and vehicle symbolize the battalion's primary mission — training junior specialists for repair and recovery units. The inscription "Skill and Quality" is the battalion's motto.
