The formation of the brigade began in the fall of 2014 and took place in the village of Nova Lyubomyrka, Rivne region. Some territorial defense battalions and units transferred from the 17 OTBr and 24 OMBr were included in the newly created brigade. At the end of 2014, the brigade went to the town of Stanytsia Luhanska in the Luhansk region, and already in 2015 it defended the Avdiyivka - Verkhnyotoretske strip in Donetsk region. It was here that the 3rd battalion of the 53rd OMBr stood out. To carry out combat tasks, two BTGs were formed from the units of the brigade, each of which included: a mechanized battalion (three companies), the 2C1 "Gvozdika" battery, a reconnaissance platoon, a MANPADS platoon, a ZU-platoon 23-2 and mortar battery. Since March 2018, the brigade has once again carried out combat missions in the East along the Siverskyi Donets River from Orichovo (Popasnyansky District) to Slovianoserbsk, Luhansk Oblast.[source?]
