The 55th Separate Signal Regiment holds a significant place in the history of Ukraine's military forces. On December 23, 1991, it became the first military formation of the former USSR stationed on Ukrainian territory to swear an oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people. This pivotal moment was actively supported by the regiment commander, Colonel Vilen Martirosyan, and the oath ceremony was held in a solemn atmosphere in Rivne.

In July 2004, the regiment was reformed into the 55th Separate Linear and Node Signal Regiment. Later, on September 2, 2013, following a directive from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it was restructured into the 55th Separate Petro Kivska Order of the Red Banner Signal Brigade. In 2015, the brigade was further reformed into a regiment.

Combat Participation During combat operations, the regiment has been tasked with organizing communication in key cities, such as Chernihiv, Bakhmut, Soledar, Kherson, and Kharkiv. The regiment plays a crucial role in maintaining communication for the Ukrainian forces, particularly along the northern border of Ukraine, which is vital for coordinating military actions and ensuring effective command and control.

Awards and Recognition The regiment's personnel have been recognized for their heroism, courage, and successful completion of combat tasks. They have received various state awards, including:

  • Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky
  • Order "For Courage" III class
  • Order of Daniel of Galicia
  • Medal "For Military Service to Ukraine"
  • Medal "For Impeccable Service" III class
  • Medal "Defender of the Homeland"
