Formation History
The brigade was established in April 2022 in the city of Starychi, Lviv region. Its creation was a response to the urgent need to reinforce the Ukrainian army amid russia’s full-scale invasion. From the outset, the 65th Mechanized Brigade focused on intensive combat training and mobility, which enabled it to quickly become a fully capable fighting unit within the Armed Forces.

From the early months of combat, the brigade distinguished itself on the Zaporizhzhia front. In December 2022, it participated in holding back russian forces, and in the summer of 2023, it took part in the Ukrainian counteroffensive toward Melitopol, notably contributing to the liberation of the village of Robotyne. In 2024, the brigade effectively held positions near Orikhiv, demonstrating resilience under intense enemy fire.
