The 68th Jaeger Brigade "Oleksa Dovbush" was established on March 6, 2022, formed from thousands of volunteers who were among the first to respond at military enlistment offices following russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. By March 24, the brigade’s soldiers had already confronted the enemy at the approaches to Vuhledar.
For fifteen months, the 68th Jaeger Brigade held the front line on the Kurakhove axis, resolutely resisting superior enemy forces. In June 2023, they liberated the village of Blahodatne in Donetsk region, along with several other territories.
Thanks to effective offensive actions in summer 2023, the brigade liberated the village of Nadiia in Luhansk region and de-occupied parts of Kharkiv region. Today, the brigade continues to fight on the Kupiansk and Izium fronts.
The brigade bears the honorary name of Oleksa Dovbush, the most renowned leader of the 18th-century Carpathian opryshky (rebels).
