Military unit as part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko is a mechanized military formation within the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, organized at brigade strength. It is stationed in the village of Kluhyno-Bashkyrivka, Chuhuiv District, Kharkiv Oblast.
The brigade was formed in 2000 based on the 6th Division of the National Guard of Ukraine. In 2011, its personnel were reduced, and it was planned for disbandment by 2015. However, with the onset of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, small elements of the brigade remained in Kharkiv Oblast. In August 2014, a company-tactical group was deployed to Donbas in an effort to break the encirclement of Ukrainian forces near Ilovaisk. The brigade later took part in numerous battles, including the capture of Russian GRU special forces operatives near Shchastia.
Since 2022, the brigade has played a key role in repelling the full-scale Russian invasion, particularly in the Kharkiv direction, and took part in the autumn counteroffensive. The brigade is named in honor of Ivan Sirko, a legendary Koshovyi Otaman of the Zaporizhian Sich in the 17th century.
