The International Center for Peacemaking and Security, better known as the "Yavoriv military training ground", is a military training ground in western Ukraine, located 30 km northwest of Lviv in the Yavoriv region. It is subordinated to the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny.
Since 2014, during the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, units of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine have been actively training here.
On July 3, 2017, another unit of airborne troops completed training under the program "Joint Multinational Training Group - Ukraine" (JMTG-U). In 2017, a full-time enemy action marking battalion (OPFOR forces) was created at the Yavoriv military training ground. The role of the OPFOR is to simulate the enemy, thereby creating realistic training for the units that pass through the training center. Tools like the Laser Combat Simulation System (MILES) help simulate the effects of combat, but it's the unpredictability of actual OPFOR fighters that makes combat truly real.
