The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade is a volunteer unit formed in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It was founded on February 24, 2022, by veterans of the Azov Special Operations Detachment of the National Guard and members of the Azov movement. The initiative to create the brigade came from Andriy Biletsky, the first commander of the "Azov" regiment.
The brigade is built on the ideological principles of the Azov movement: Ukrainian centrism Traditionalism Hierarchy Responsibility Only highly motivated, mentally strong fighters who pass a rigorous selection process are admitted.
These are individuals ready for constant self-improvement and the most intense frontline combat.
The unit is based in Kyiv and operates under the motto "Until Victory."
