When in March 2026 the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade joined the “Subscribe to army” project, the unit immediately noticed the platform’s main feature — regularity.
“This is not about a one-time donation, but a subscription. It is a fundamentally different approach to supporting the army,” says the brigade’s press officer, Serhii Khominskyi.
The 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade, known as the “Steel Hundred”, has gone from being a Volyn territorial defense brigade to one of the most well-known mechanized units of the Ground Forces. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, its fighters were responsible for more than 215 kilometers of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. Later, they fought in the Lyman direction, held the defense in the Serebrianskyi forest for more than a year, fought the Battle of Toretsk for 15 months, and now continue carrying out combat missions in the Kostiantynivka direction.
It is here that the need for fast decisions is felt most acutely.
According to Serhii, modern warfare changes so quickly that many needs simply cannot be predicted when forming the state budget.
“Today the war is no longer the same as it was yesterday. The enemy constantly invents new ways of attacking, and we must quickly find ways to counter them. This requires funds that could not have been included in the budget in advance,” he explains.
That is why regular contributions from subscribers make it possible to quickly cover needs that arise literally in real time.
It’s not only about drones or communication systems
For example, the brigade’s engineers developed a protection system for ground robotic systems against enemy FPV drones. The solution has already proven its effectiveness, but equipping one such system requires materials and components worth tens of thousands of hryvnias.
It is precisely for such projects that funds from “Subscribe to army” can be directed.
“A bright mind from our engineering unit came up with a truly effective protection system for ground drones. But to equip one ground robotic system with it, tens of thousands of hryvnias are needed. And these are exactly the kinds of needs that can be quickly covered thanks to regular support,” says Serhii Khominskyi.
Another advantage of the platform is accessibility
The minimum contribution is only UAH 10. The brigade is convinced that on its own such an amount may seem symbolic, but hundreds or thousands of regular contributions turn into a resource that truly affects the combat capability of the unit.
“This is exactly the case when UAH 10, 50, or 100 from a large number of people become meaningful support for the brigade. Especially when it comes to monthly or weekly help,” says the press officer.
For the military, it is not only about money. The unit says that fighters can at any moment open the brigade’s page on the platform and see how many people have already joined to support them.
“Every soldier on the front line can see that hundreds of people support him. This is important because it gives the feeling that you are not alone, that the whole country stands behind you,” says Khominskyi.
Today, the “Steel Hundred” continues to hold positions in one of the most difficult directions of the front. And every new subscription helps to purchase equipment faster, support in-house engineering developments, and find answers to the challenges of a war that changes every day.
“By subscribing on subscribetoarmy.com to the 100th Brigade, a person becomes a systematic participant in our fight for victory,” concludes the press officer.
